Retatrutide
Retatrutide is an experimental once-weekly injectable peptide being developed by Eli Lilly for obesity and related metabolic conditions. It is known as a “triple agonist” because it activates three receptors:
- GLP-1: reduces appetite and slows stomach emptying.
- GIP: supports glucose-dependent insulin release and metabolic regulation.
- Glucagon: may increase energy expenditure and fat breakdown.
Unlike tirzepatide, which targets GLP-1 and GIP, retatrutide adds glucagon-receptor activity.
